BOEING 727 VIP The 727 short to medium range trijet is the world's second most successful jet airliner built. The program was launched in 1960, and culminated with the release of the Boeing Model 727 featuring a rear trijet configuration with power from three specially designed Pratt & Whitney engines. The trijet design was settled upon as it gave the redundancy of three engines, better climb performance than a twin and improved operating economics over a four engine jet. The 727 also introduced advanced avionics and interior design amenities. Typical interior configurations range from VIP layouts similar to the Business Jet to seating for up to 60 in style and comfort.
