Work on a turboprop version of the Pressurized Navajo dates back to the mid 1960s with the first Cheyenne delivered in mid 1974 . Piper had to redesign the flight controls to handle the increased loads on the airframe due to the higher speeds achieved through the increased engine power. The Cheyenne is a popular entry level Turboprop able to carry up to 8 passengers.
